Local 144 Upgrade TrainingUpgrade training not only fills your pockets with certification cards and money in your wallet but Union Millwrights have an added opportunity to increase their knowledge and marketable skill by taking advantage of three expense paid trips to Las Vegas. The UBC provides round trip air travel, lodging and meals for working millwright members of the U.B.C. who choose to take advantage of the offer for a week each of hands on training on Gas Turbines , Steam Turbines and Monorails & Conveyors. WOW What do I do to sign up--- ? Attend the following Classes at Local Level *Rigging Procedure 16 Hour Millwright Health and Safety G E Turbine Familiarization & Hytorc Bolting Qualification Pick your date and sign up to go. For Monorails & Conveyors Attend the following classes at local level Industrial Forklift Certification Aerial Lift *Rigging Proceedure (need only attend once) Pick your date- sign up and go. Classes at the Internationational Training Center in Las Vegas are offered 49 weeks of the year. Read more here about The International Training Center in Las Vegas All of the Upgrade training is taught at Local 144 by UBC trained instructors.All of the classes needed for the Las Vegas Training are available at our local and at other locals in our council area. Our instructors are qualified to teach classes such as: Aerial Lift Operation, G E Turbine Familiarization, Hytorc Bolting Qualification. Lift Truck, Millwright Health and Safety, OSHA, Rigging Procedure, Scaffold Erector and Excel Scaffold (now used in Nuclear Plants). We also offer Laser & Optical Alignment Classes These classes are usually taught on the weekends and range between 8 and 40 hours in length. The Members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America are offered the best training available in their craft and in job safety in the trades. Local 144 Welding Training
Welding is a sought after skill and Certified welders both Millwrights and Carpenters are always in demand.
It is rapidly becoming one of the most required skills in the construction industry. If you can weld
and can be certified or want to learn to weld we
offer welding classes for certification instructed by AWSC Certified Inspector Roy Evans.
Classes are held on Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. The class nights vary on a monthly basis so please
check the calendar page or Local 144 up-grade training
schedule for welding class nights.
